There are several methods you can use to apply for the Mississippi SNAP Program.  You can contact the local county office near you and apply in person, on the telephone, through faxing documentation to the office or you can apply through the mail.  You also have the option of applying for the Mississippi SNAP program online.  You will need to choose one adult from your home to act as a representative who can apply for benefits.  You will have to sign an application, and all information shared in the application must be truthful.  Once you fill out the application, it is accepted the day it reaches the office or the day you submit it in person.

Once you have completed and submitted the application, the county office will arrange an interview with you.  You will need to bring a variety of documentation with you to the interview.  You may be requested to bring additional materials, depending on your answer to interview questions.  After all documentation has been submitted, the county office will use the information you have shared to make a food stamp eligibility determination.  You will be notified about your eligibility through a client notice that explains how much you will receive or if you have been deemed ineligible.  To find out more about required documentation visit http://www.mdhs.state.ms.us/ea_fs.html.
